KEY RULES

* These are KEY RULES which were revised or added to the pre-existing rules. Any rule here supersedes any pre exiting rules that were followed in the leagues listed.

BBSA Single A Key Rules

  • Stealing is allowed from second to third base, the runner may leave when the ball crosses home plate. The runner is locked at third and can NOT advance on an overthrow.
  • Mercy rule- 12 runs after four innings, 10 runs after five innings
  • There is a 5 run limit per inning
  • Runners must stop running when the ball in control of the pitcher on/near the mound (umpires discretion)
  • Time limit- no new inning can start after 1 hour and 45 minutes after the start time
  • Game balls—home team provides two per game
  • Rotating Batting Order: submitted to director at beginning of season and runs continuously. (if fourth batter makes last out of game one, fifth batter is the first hitter in game two). You can change this once at midseason and again at the beginning of the playoffs.
  • Bat changes—BBSA is a Ripken organization and we need to follow their recently adapted bat rules (see website for details).
  • All players must play nine defensive outs (assumes a six inning game)
  • A pitcher must be removed if he/she walks four consecutive batters—or six total in an inning
  • Rookie league call ups can not pitch/catch
  • Rookie league players must hit last in your order
  • There is a limit on how many times a rookie call up can play for you (I will find out that number)
  • Playoff seedings will go by winning %
  • When we have the late game. The scoreboard controllers must be locked up every night by the home team
  • One base on an overthrow to first base (still need to confirm particulars on this one)

1-30 pitches, 0 days rest

31-60 pitches, 1 day rest

61-75 pitches, 2 days rest

DAILY MAX pitches is 75 pitches

WEEKLY MAX pitches is 120 pitches.

Pitchers may exceed their daily max limit (75) in order to complete an active at-bat. In addition, if a pitcher begins an at-bat under any pitch count threshold (i.e. under 30 pitches), they will be permitted to complete the active at-bat and then be credited with pitching only the pitch count threshold (i.e. 30 pitches) which they passed in the at-bat provided they are removed immediately following said at-bat.

Pitch counts should be confirmed after every inning. Final game pitch counts for each game should be confirmed post-game and reported to league director.
