Covid 19/Phase 3 - Competition



BBSA is issuing the following guidelines during game play. These guidelines are in accordance with

The State of Massachusetts Covid-19 Order 43. These guidelines are subject to revision as additional information or requirements become available.


  1. All players must have a Parent/Guardian signature on the Athletic Waiver.
  2. Players shall provide their own personal playing equipment. Players shall not share personal playing equipment including batting helmets, gloves, water bottles, etc. The league will supply sanitizer for team catchers gear on each field. Team catchers gear shall be sanitized at the end of each practice session or game. When possible catchers should wear their own gear.
  3. Coaches, staff, referees, umpires and other officials are required to wear facial coverings and maintain social distance at all times.
  4. Facial coverings shall be worn by players at all times, to include at bat and on base. Exception, Fielders may remove facial coverings while actively playing in the field.
  5. Players, coaches or spectators not feeling well shall not attend team events.
  6. The use of candy, chewing gum and sunflower seeds is not permitted by players, coaches and spectators.
  7. Players and Coaches shall supply their own marked water bottle or sports drink. No team, dugout or communal coolers are allowed.
  8. No celebrations/handshaking. Players and coaches should refrain from high fives, fist bumps and other social contact during team events.
  9. Parents/Coaches are asked not to congregate in common areas or parking lots following practices or events. Players should not arrive more than 30 min before their game start time.
  10. Each player is asked to bring a personal chair for use between innings. These are to be spaced out to ensure social distancing in and around the dugout areas. Parents are refrained from dugout areas.
  11. Spectators shall be limited to (2) persons per player.
  12. Spectators must maintain distance of at least 6 feet between spectators groups and are asked to bring their own chairs. Please do not use public benches or bleachers.
  13. Spectators shall remain in designated spectator areas.
  14. Dugout benches and high touch areas shall be sanitized following each game.
  15. Dugouts shall not be utilized during practices.

The BBSA BOD will update these guidelines in accordance with State guidelines as we move toward Phase 4 and restrictions are lifted.
